Prompt Engineering Makes Me Feel Dumb

Sometimes I spend more time writing the right prompt than it would've taken to just do the task myself.

"Write a script that does X, but make it readable, and use environment variables, and don't forget error handling, and please, PLEASE, stop using while True loops..."

Half the time it works. Half the time it goes off the rails. I still love it. But it makes me appreciate how much I don't know about language.
